Jason Orton has been a photographer for ten years. His photographs combine topographical observation with a personal, cultural, literary and psychological interpretation of place. He is currently exploring a selection of post-industrial landscapes east of London. These landscapes are often seen as 'blank canvases' that can be cleared or levelled flat, which can lead to a lack of awareness of important historical and cultural traces within them. He intends to compare the treatment of these post-industrial landscapes with the way that they are treated in other European countries.
